Everybody goes through tough times. Because, what’s life without challenges? It is also written in Shrimad Bhagwad Gita that, “Bad times test our faith.” As the sun shows up after every dark night, we have to do the same. Whatever may be the situation, Some days are sunny however some are stormy. We should do our karma without thinking about what the result would be. It is only in our darkest days that we may discover our true strengths of the brilliant light within ourselves that can never be dimmed.

I have read multiple books on growing attitude and character. I have mentioned all the best books here: Recommended books by sudarshan purohit. I am sure it will help you a lot in becoming a better (more happy and successful) individual.

If we talk about the recent pandemic situation of Covid-19. It has been tough for people to stay home for the longest period. Some faced depression and anxiety due to unemployment whereas some were worried because of their or their loved ones’ health.

Let us circle ways by which you can stand out in fighting difficult times and become stronger to others.

1. Do not blame yourself for the situation.

Neither you are wrong nor the person/thing because of which you are having a tough time. We often tend to say things like “Why always bad things happen to me only?” or “What have I done wrong that this is happening to me?”. These are the things that make us feel a lot worse. Our goal is to stay positive through whatever may be the situations and not lament over them.

2. Do not feel bad about feeling negative.

It is okay if you feel negative. We are humans not machines. If we won’t feel emotions then what will be the difference between robots and humans. Even if you should feel positive most of the time that does not mean feeling negative makes you a negative person. Feeling emotions is our proof of existence. Exist!

3. Be brave.

“The greatest glory in living life is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fail.” -Nelson Mandela. Failing is the precursor of success. Just like, after every storm rainbow comes. You are going to prosper. Be brave throughout the process. Just Remember that Nothing stays forever. Happiness is always coming with sadness.

4. Ask for help and discuss your problems.

Do not be afraid of being judged. Discuss your problems with the people you trust the most. People who love you will never judge you, instead, they will love to help you through the situations. Vent out your feelings either by speaking it out or writing it down. This will surely help you feel better. This is tried and tested by the philosophers too. Do not find yourself alone. You have so many people who love you.

5. Do not lose hope.

Again, do not lose hope. There are good times waiting for you. Grief does not stick to anybody for longer times. Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.

6. Bring gratitude.

Be grateful for what you have now. Gratitude makes enough of everything that you have. Be grateful for the life you have been gifted. Be grateful for the people that you have around you. There are toxic people everyone but focus on the good ones that you have. When you focus on the good, it gets better. Be happy with what you have while you track all that you want.

7. Journal your thoughts.

Writing what bothers you helps a lot. Write whatever comes to your mind without thinking of grammar. Think of the situation you are in and write the good a bad aspects of it. Good aspects will make you feel great while writing the bad ones can help you improve.

8. Focus on what you can control.

When the earthquake comes, are you able to stop or control it? No, right! Same as that, do not try to control your thoughts instead give all of yourself to the thought for once rather thinking about it in bits. Ponder about it. Go to its roots. Find out from where this has arisen and consider the pros and cons. Think if you can control it or not. Control what you can control. You can control your behavior, not the thoughts that arise.

“I will love the light for it shows me the path, yet I will endure the darkness for it shows me the stars.” -Og Mandino. This is a very beautiful quote. See the good in everything as it is good in everything. It just depends on what your intentions are. If you are given a knife, It is your intention that defines the use

of it. Whether you use it for murder as a mugger or for the treatment as a doctor.

There is the need for bad and tough times to give birth to the good times. Suppose there were only good times then how could we get to know the importance of bad times. Now, you must be thinking what is the importance of bad times?

  • Bad times teach us the value of good times,
  • they give us experiences,
  • they give us the chance to make mistakes and learn from them

If we won’t fail or make mistakes then how come we will grow in life. Our purpose is to grow and have a better life and better life is the consequence of many mistakes that we make in the process.

Diamonds are made after putting carbon in very high temperatures and pressure. You must be coal today but there is the diamond lying beneath you with will shine right through your soul when its time will come.

Do not ask for lighter burdens instead broaden your shoulder, give all that you can because we humans have so much potential. We are the only ones in the universe who are capable of anything we want.

Just remember you are the gift to the universe and you have so much to give out. Last but not least I would like to add a very famous quote here, “Tough times never last, but tough people do.”- Robert Schuller
