HOW TO BE FOCUSED | HOW TO FOCUS BETTER | HOW TO REMAIN FOCUSED | HOW TO FOCUS ON YOUR GOALS | HOW TO STAY FOCUSED WHEN STUDYING.
Being a participant in this highly competitive endless tournament called – ‘World’, everyone needs to be focused daily. It is not that focus on a single day will make you prepared for the battles to come, being focused is something that is part of your life as the act of breathing and drinking water. The art named ‘Focus’ has been long pursued by several theorists and world leaders and there have been many results of the pursuit that ended with their life on earth.
Focus, as they say, is not a need of the modern era or the previous ones, it is a law in itself that governs more than 99 % of the results of our various endeavors in our whole life. Let us accept the fact that we all, as human beings, find it nearly impossible to be focused at all instances of our life but the other side of the argument also says that a majority of the time one can easily attain focus so that he/she does not falter in the current job given to the individual.
Focus is not a mission on which we have to launch our mind and body blindly rather, it is a discipline in itself that teaches its students how to lead a more fruitful and satisfying life. When we are focused, we not only perform our duties better but we are also attaining the mental satisfaction of devoting ourselves completely to the task we are assigned. Learning the art of focus is never going to be a one-day process, one has to incorporate the whole cycle so well that the mind is subconsciously trained to repeat the same cycle every day of the remaining life. This article brings you the recipe to be focused in your life, stay tuned!
- OVERTHINKING SPOILS THE GAME
Our mind is such a machine that can handle only one job at a time and produce the desired results. If we try to overload it with several jobs and also expect it to give the desired outcome, it is nothing but foolhardy on our part. While you are writing a test, if you start thinking about the result at the same point in time, this overloading of your mind will spoil your preparation and will give you below the desired marks.
In other words, one must not try to dwell upon several thoughts and ideas while doing a particular job or work because our mind cannot handle more than one stream of thoughts with complete efficacy at a given instance. Moreover, when we overthink, our focus is often shifted to the less worthy matters than the current one (put this aspect in the example of test-taking as mentioned above).
Overthinking mitigates against our primary goal of focusing on the matter at hand and sways our mind to the other arena of thoughts where we either end up being highly demotivated or being highly excited but not about the job we were doing but about something else which again will be dropped in the middle because while we pursue that job, the same events will occur.
- NOTICE YOUR DISTRACTIONS
We have several distractions in our lives at any given instance, but when we allow them to creep into the core of our minds, we are indirectly allowing ourselves to be off the focus. Distractions come from various walks of life, they may be professional, social, or even personal but the remedy to all of them is teaching ourselves.
Ask yourself some simple questions – “AM I FACING DISTRACTIONS WHILE STUDYING/WORKING?”, If the answer to the question is “YES” then- “WHAT ARE MY DISTRACTIONS?”, as soon as you recognize them ask yourself another question – “ARE THESE DISTRACTIONS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MY ULTIMATE GOAL?”, and the answer to this final question will fix the problem for you.
We don’t have to be ashamed about being distracted by some of the other elements present in our surroundings but we should feel an urgent need to pull ourselves in the balance where we do not compromise with our work for the sake of being indulged in the distractions as discussed above.
Distractions are so crucial to be kept away that even though you might have worked day and night for realizing your ultimate dream, these distractions will render your hard work and sacrifices null and void at the end when you are being assessed on a variety of grounds so be alert enough to keep the balls at bay.
- ORGANIZE YOUR ROUTINE
A large number of people in the age group of 15 to 30 years don’t recognize organizing and planning as an important factor in deciding the success of their future endeavors and this opinion keeps them away from sorting the tasks of their daily life and thus live in a jumbled and haphazard manner. An unorganized lifestyle will not only make simple tasks seem very complex but will also let your focus be scattered to many undesirable areas at a given point in time.
Just like organizing your study table attracts your mind to sit and study with more concentration, when you have an organized and planned timetable, it is favorable for you to attain the required amount of focus for your job or any other task. It should be noted that when we plan our day with a flexible timeline, we are in a mental state of satisfaction that tells us we can now pay our undivided attention to a single work at a given instance.
The readers should try to assemble all the daily tasks and jobs to be done, and make a structured plan for the timetable such that one should not feel too much restricted at a given instance while also ensuring that one is not left haywire in the middle of the day and thus starts to feel lost and backtracked in tasks, organizing your routine gives you a much-needed confidence boost and thus is a restorative also.
- LEARN FROM OTHERS
There are a plenty number of people in our society that have already achieved so much in the art of being focused in one’s life. It will cause no loss to the reader to research and learn from these people a varying number of techniques and methods that have helped them to achieve a certain degree of focus in life and thus achieve their goals at different stages of their life.
At the same time, one should remember that there is no single person from which we all can learn the above-mentioned art, there are many of them and so we should not limit ourselves to the lessons and knowledge of one person. We should try to explore the lesser-known people also in the same field that have also given valuable lessons to their students about how to learn the art of focusing on various walks of life.
Roger Federer, a world-famous tennis player is equally capable of teaching you the lessons of focus as is the world champion in the sport of chess Mr. Vishwanathan Anand and this tells us that we should not limit ourselves to a particular sport or domain but should explore the people who have succeeded in other crucial sports or domains of life.
In this line of thought, the words of the great scientist Sir Isaac Newton are well-fitting, he once said – “While the world is not paying heed to the art of getting your eyes and heart stuck to a passion of life, the same world adores the other person who achieves glory while perfecting the same art.”
Learning to focus on the ambition and goals of your life is crucial but incorporating the same spirit of focusing in day-to-day life is equally and sometimes even more crucial. We are not required to be robots at the biggest stage of them all, we are required to respect what that particular stage demands from its participants and how well the participants are expected to fulfill those demands.
At the end of the day, when we all are in our bed, ready to close our eyes and fall into the dreamy journey we call sleeping, what our conscience asks for is psychological satisfaction, a sense that one has been committed to his job and work throughout the day with maximum possible focus and thus imparted justice to every minute of the day.
Being focused will not only take you from the ground to the ninth cloud but will also make you cherish that particular journey from the ground to the summit, it will make you realize that the art of focus eliminates so many problems from one’s life that it can very well be called the panacea of the world.
Whether you first seek inner peace and then go for the focus you desire, the end product for you will be the same, and also the level of sacrifices and hard work required on your part will be the same so don’t be bothered by the different set of opinions wandering in the air outside, the fruit of all is the same.
