Illness management - How to handle physical sickness and mental sickness 2

Being physically sick can make you feel rotten and above all, it comes with the stress of managing responsibilities while battling sickness. Because of this we often increase our physical sicknesses with more negative reactions which end up making us not only sick, but also uneasy about being sick, and sometimes also resentful. This ends up affecting our health since stress jeopardizes our immune system. So our thoughts can end up slowing down our recovery. To fight this our aim to approach illness should be seeing things as they are, with acceptance and empathy.

So our mindset when we are physically sick plays a big role in our recovery. If we are positive we recover fast and if we are negative we recover slow. Many of us are not able to handle our physical sickness properly and end up getting more sick. Illness management is very important for each one of us.

Let’s learn how to do illness management:

Acceptance: You can’t force your sickness to go away by refusing that it’s present in the first place. As a matter of fact, denial may only increase the feeling. Remember that it’s normal to feel this way. Illness is a problem for which we have to find a solution. Until unless we don’t recognize the problem how will we find the solution? So first we have to accept that we have physical sickness and we have to find a solution for it.

Don’t pretend to be happy when you are not: The first step is always to acknowledge that right now, this is how you are. Many people try to show that they are fine even if they are in pain. Don’t pretend to be happy because otherwise, you will not give proper care which is required for the illness. Tell yourself that things will improve but don’t tell that everything is fine. Notice your mental state without falling into pampering or self-pity. Don’t take it very negatively and also just not ignore it. Your goal should be to come back better. Have patience and kindness toward yourself.

How to do Illness management? – Just focus on solving your health issue first. Just work on your illness and your comfort. We all have a lot of daily responsibilities let’s focus on them when you are healthy. Believe that you can solve your health problem and can come back as a winner. Take your time to return yourself to a healthy individual. It will support your body as it heals.

How to do Illness management? – Crying is the best medicine: It’s a difficult thing to cope with this unexpected turn your life has taken and it’s okay. It is human that these things will make you cry. Crying helps, so cry. But don’t allow it to become a breeding ground for harmful thoughts, such as “Why is it happening to me?” Crying is an easier way to take out negative emotions. Once we cry we feel relieved. Once you are done crying think of how to come out of this don’t just keep thinking negative and keep crying 🙂

Self-compassion is vital. It keeps self-blame from creeping in. Blaming yourself will only make you feel worse. You’re already ill and that is a fact of your life right now. It is definitely not your fault so there’s no point to hate or blame yourself. All of us live in a body that’s sensitive to illness and damage. We can only work, results are not in our control anyway. We did what we felt is right and now the illness is not in our control. So don’t take the blame on yourselves.

Eat Clean and Healthy Food: In order to increase your recovery, get nutrition. Eating well, while you’re sick, will guarantee your recovery. It will also improve your mood. Our thought process and energy is influenced by what we eat. So focus on eating healthy food.

Don’t be alone: It’s very easy for those who live alone to separate from the outside world when they’re ill. Try your best not to let that occur. Call your family and friends and tell them that you’re not feeling well. Be open to receiving their love and attention. Don’t turn down their proposals of care and company. You are not alone. If positive energy people are around you then you will also feel positive. So if we have healthy people around us and if they say encouraging and motivating things then we will recover fast.

I have written one article on how to remain tension-free that will also help: How to remain tension free?

I have a YouTube Channel also where I post a video on attitude and character and you can subscribe it through https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYGdbB_F0qii4Zo_rn-rCyg/videos?view_as=subscriber. Good attitude and character people are healthy mentally. All mental illness is because of a bad attitude and character.

Finding the perfect mechanism takes time and perseverance, yet it
can enormously affect how you feel. If you haven’t had a development with techniques you’ve tried, or you’re looking to add some more to your method, here are amazing mechanisms approved by mental health experts that will help you manage your mental health.

Treat yourself with compassion and respect, and withdraw self-criticism. Make sure to have time for your hobbies and favorite projects, and of course, grow your horizons. for example, Do a daily crossword puzzle, plant a house garden, take some lessons like dance lessons, learn to play an instrument, or even become fluent in another language.

Talking about your feelings will do you wonders. It isn’t a sign of weakness. (boys, I’m looking at you. the days of ” boys don’t cry” have long gone. It’s time to break free from gender norms and be yourself and express yourself irrespective of what society tells you is acceptable) after all, It’s part of taking care of your wellbeing and doing what you can to stay healthy.

Talking can be a means to deal with a difficulty you’ve been hauling around in your mind for a while. Just feeling like you are being listened to can help you feel supported and less lonely. The best part is that it works both ways. If you open up, it might inspire others to do the same.

But how do you have a conversation? I understand that it’s not always easy to explain how you’re feeling. If you can’t imagine one word, use more than one. My point is; talk. ask yourself: how does it feel inside your mind? how does it make you feel like doing something? Nw, You don’t need to make your sit your loved ones down for a big talk about your mental health or illness. As a matter of fact, many people feel more relaxed when these conversations develop normally. Start a conversation maybe when you’re doing something collectively, if it feels uncomfortable at first, give it some time. Start talking about your feelings like you naturally do.

Human support is important: People with an active family or social connections are usually better than those who lack a support network. Make arrangements with supportive family members and friends, or try out activities where you can meet different people, such as a club, group, or support group.

Believe it or not, stress is a part of life. Follow good skills that suit you: for example, Try 20-Minute Stress management Strategies, do yoga or pilates, exercise, take a quality walk, joke around with your pet, or maybe even try journal writing as a way of stress-reducing. Also, learn to smile and see the humor and love in life. Study shows that laughter can promote your immune system, reduce pain, relax your body, and lessen stress. I have written one article on how to keep smiling always I am sure that will help.

Opposite-to-emotion thinking is what we must practice: What it means is that You act in the opposite way your emotions say you to act. For example, if you’re feeling unsettled and you have the urge to be alone, the Opposite-to-emotion advises you to go out and be nearby people, that is the opposite action of separation. Similarly, When you feel anxious, fight that with something soothing like meditation, and when you feel manic, shift to something that secures you. This technique is seemingly one of the most difficult to put into play, but if you can control it, the results are unbelievable.

Try meditating, or even Mindfulness or prayer. Relaxation and recreation exercises and prayer can change your state of mind and viewpoint on life. In truth, investigation shows that meditation may help you feel relaxed and improve the effects of therapy. We all need time to focus on ourselves. I know the advice to meditate is very old, but it is only because it works.

Management of Well-being for Students: lastly, let’s talk about students, the most stressed out of us. Choose what you want to accomplish academically, professionally, and of course personally. Then write down the steps and ways you need to achieve your goals. My point is to plan. Having a plan is very important. But make sure that whatever your plan is, it is flexible. Because at the end of the day, life is unpredictable. Life is something that we can not plan.

So even if one plan fails, remember that things will work out. Sometimes we feel like we want something but we need something else. You have a lot of time to find your interests, enjoy your childhood. It won’t last long and your whole life you will yearn for it. Aim for what you want from life, but be honest and don’t over-schedule. You’ll enjoy a great sense of achievement and self-worth as you advance toward your goal.

My one piece of advice for you would learn what life is all about. It is about happiness, experiences, adventure, and love. don’t waste away your life running after money, it will not make you happy. Of course, aim to earn a good income but don’t expect money to fill your void. Chase after happiness. Study what you want to study and cherish your loved ones.

In this article, we have learned how to manage your illness both physical illness and mental illness. I think that this is an important topic and many of us are unaware of how to manage this. IF you have any of your friends who would need this then kindly share it with them.
