How to easily overcome the fear of trying new things?
A lot of us have some kind of hobbies that we love committing to. Be it watching a football game, playing the guitar, going on hikes, most of us have something like this that stirs up our hormones.
When we try something new and enjoy it, you have spent your time on something you wouldn’t normally do, but you enjoyed it despite it being a challenge and tiring.
A person should always give more weightage to the positive emotions like when you had fun, instead of giving more weightage to thoughts like spending time or it being a challenge or it making you exhausted.
At first, when you find out that you enjoy something you never did before and try to make it a hobby or pursue it completely, you will find it difficult to allot time to your new interest and puts you off your course. A person should persevere and when he knows that he is succeeding at it, he will make a habit of it.
It can be difficult to attempt something that is minor, it can be out of your comfort zone, but you don’t know if you won’t enjoy it until you’ve tried it.
Why is it tough to strive for fresh experiences?
It is easy to make decisions of not performing an action with uncertainty in your mind. What if I don’t like my new trainer? What if something bad happens to me on a hike? What if I am not good enough to play football with these guys? All these questions pop-up in your mind, and rightfully so. You have to keep yourself safe, and once you are safe, you must be determined to follow through with a plan previously made.
In this day and age, you may be afraid to try new things because nothing ever stays a secret if you fail, it can be uncomfortable, or you may be ashamed of yourself if you fail at it, but what really matters is if you have put in enough effort and even if you fail, persevere until you succeed at it.
Here’s how you can develop a winning attitude.
Here are a few elements which help you to overcome the fear of attempting different things:
1. Evaluate what your indecisiveness reflects:
Your hesitance to try something new might be because of how little you know about the new task. It disheartens you because you understand that this new skill you’re trying to learn takes time and you evaluate yourself and the time you can spend on it.
An unwillingness to put in the effort it takes to learn something new may reveal to you that you don’t really want to learn this new skill. You stop yourself from trying something new because you are afraid you won’t like it.
You might even be afraid that someone will see you fail at this new task, and by doing so they might ridicule you in front of others. You should assess the risks involved in what you’re trying and always be cautious but never be afraid.
So we must be clear on why we are not trying out new things. Knowing itself will help us to take a step forward.
2. Calculate how much of an advantage it is to learn this new hobby:
Before you put off something that you have always wanted to try, calculate the pros and cons of not doing it. Understand that this new habit in your life will add another dimension to your personality. Your personality’s evolution through the process of learning this new habit is a tremendous gift.
3. What besides evidence will you find out by committing to a different training?
By committing to a new training routine or a new experience, you will not only be experiencing that action but also your brain is experiencing a rush of dopamine every time you feel happy, experiencing a rush of adrenaline if you are doing an outdoor activity. You are also getting new experiences and memories. After a hard weeks’ work, you just want to do something that you love and when you try new things, you never know when you might fall in love with something, meet someone interesting, grow your friend circle.
Sometimes all a person needs in life is to try something new. This gives people a new perspective on life as well.

4. What qualities do you learn, during the process of learning something new.
When you decide to try your hand at something new, it doesn’t matter if you are good at it or not. If you like what you’ve tried then, pursue it to the best of your capacity. This will teach you perseverance even when you are older. You need to be patient to develop the skills you desire. After patiently understanding what it takes to develop the qualities you desire, you know how much effort it takes to do what you are trying to do and will find a new-found respect for yourself.
You need to be a strong-willed person to complete whatever you start. You are bound to encounter hurdles and challenges in something you have started to learn, but if you have a strong-willed mind then you will push yourself to be determined and complete something you have started.
5. Try something new engage yourself from becoming bored:
As we all get bored by our daily routine some interesting new stuff changes our surroundings and also changes the way we think. Engage in tiny but effective and related activities. This will spur you towards your goal.
6. Try something new that helps you to grow:
We don’t grow as people and individuals if we get sucked into a mundane life. It is true that you learn every step of your life and when you push yourself to learn new things you as an individual will grow in people’s eyes.
7. Trying something new gives you self-confidence:
There is something really rewarding in trying new things. Even if you fail at it, there are no issues but being bold and trying new things will instill and sense of self-confidence in you. Whatever you are trying to do will make you a stronger individual, and come out of it wiser than before. This will also teach you how to be satisfied with what you’ve achieved and will teach you to cherish minor successes in life.
8. You will be more interesting:
Doing new things adds flair to your personality. Even if you don’t find yourself interesting, others will. The more things you attempt, the more your personality and aura grows, making you more interesting for the people around you.
9. Maybe you find something new:
You might have tried different things in the past and never liked any of them, but it doesn’t mean you give up on trying new things altogether. Experience whatever you want to, and then say ‘NO’, since you already know it is not your cup of tea, you won’t regret passing upon it.
Fear exists. However, you must take control of the command it has on your sense and soul because if you proceed to operate the exact strategy that hasn’t served you over the years your conclusion will always stay the same. You need to take a step towards your fantasy and urge yourself into new things.
Courage isn’t working without belief. Courage is working in the spirit of belief. As you want to take admission and if you don’t fill-up the admission form because of fear that you don’t get admission then your answer is automatically no, but if you do send the letter then there is the possibility of getting accepted.
Always try new things, overcome your fears, and persevere until you know everything there is to know about it.
