Best Qualities of a Partner.
Till date, there can be no other better summary of the various stages of life than that proposed by William Shakespeare, the man widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language. His poem ‘7 stages of life’ each, represents a beautiful period of life and depicts a parabolic curve starting from being an infant to concluding this life by becoming like a child once again, with old age.
You need to learn to be patient to better understand the qualities of a partner. Here’s what you need to do to be more patient.
With the first two stages being slightly insignificant, that is, an infant and a student respectively, prominence arises in the third stage of life – a lover. It is in this stage a man starts looking for his better half and proposes love and marriage, who then, in most of the cases, spends their remaining life together, making and spreading love.
But upon careful reading, you might have noticed the usage of the words ‘in most of the cases’ in the above paragraph to mention those couple who spend the rest of their lives together. Why does it have to be only in most of the cases and not in all cases where a man and woman spend their life together? What stops them from being together? If there are compatibility issues between the couple, then what qualities must one look into his / her better half so that he/she can spend their lives together happily without any issues? THE RITUAL CALLED MARRIAGE:
There comes a stage in life after which society expects us to find a company (if not we expect) to spend the rest of our life together. As we attain the so-called ‘marriageable age’, we are forced by those around us to enter into this ‘ceremonial institution’ called marriage, which, if I may daresay, may make or break us. The reason behind this baffling speech is due to the type of partner that we may get, the qualities he/she possesses and the compatibility between the two individuals.
To better understand the qualities of a partner, you need to be humble. Here’s what you need to do to develop humility.
We may divide the qualities to look for in an individual to accept him/her as a partner into two types. They are – Primary and Secondary qualities. Primary qualities are basic and fundamental qualities that should be looked for as a mandatory quality.
These qualities form the basis of the type of person who he/she is and portray them to the world when they are understood deeply. Secondary qualities, on the other hand, are those that are visible to the world upon taking a glance. These type of qualities need not be looked for as a mandatory quality when searching for a partner and their presence or absence has little effect in long term.
To better understand the qualities of a partner, you need to stop thinking about problems. Here’s what you need to do to stop thinking about problems and start thinking about problems.
Confusing though it might be, the words below will unravel these two types of qualities in detail. Again. (T)read the words below to find out!
As mentioned above, primary qualities are those which are fundamental and must be looked for in every person having the prospect of becoming a better half. The list of primary qualities is listed below for better understanding.
Maturity is the most basic and desired quality to look for in every person before choosing them as your better half as it will aid and also form a basis for creating a sustaining and healthy relationship. He / She should have the maturity in handling long term relationship such as marriage and solve all those problems that may arise midway in order to ensure a lasting relationship.
Keep yourself motivated to understand the qualities of a partner better. Here’s what you need to do to keep yourself motivated.
Marriage is a life long commitment that needs to be built on a strong foundation. So, it is imperative for the to-be-partner to be matured enough to understand what, with whom and when he/she is entering into such a relationship, understand that there might arise problems and misunderstandings, and also the fact that they are temporary in the ocean called life.
2. MUTUAL TRUST AND RESPECT:
Mutual trust is the second most important quality to look for when choosing a prospective bride/groom. A stable and long-lasting relationship can be built only on mutual trust and honesty. Without trust, a relationship is bound to collapse. Remember, confusion and doubt can upset the relationship and destroy the lives of both the persons involved. So, it is imperative to make sure that the person is straight forward, honest and above all, trusts you in this long journey called life.
Another equally important quality to look for is respect. The person who is about to become your better half must respect you for who you are and not for your job or income or status that trails you. That person should not take you for granted. Make sure that the person you select to be your life partner and better half, the person who is going to stand by you and your decisions in all walks of life, trusts and respects you and your decisions.

3. FAMILY ORIENTED:
There is an alarming trend these days, of married couple sending their parents to old age homes citing a reason, ‘unable to take care’ of them. Everyone must understand that this is a sin and a crime as well, as these were and are the people who have cared, are caring, and will care for you till they die. Without them, we will not exist – be it in the childhood or adulthood phase.
Which brings us to the third most important basic and fundamental quality to look for in the future better half. The prospective groom/bride should be family-oriented, respect their parents as well as in-laws, and care for them. As Shakespeare, in his 7 stages of life describes, old age people are like children. So, it is important to take care of them. Choose someone who understands, respects and takes care of them at all times.
Learn how to enjoy life. Here’s what you need to do to enjoy life.
This, being the last of primary qualities, is also important. Life is a series of waves which rise up at one time and falls back at another time. Similarly, we may face troubles, misunderstandings and issues, but what is important is to understand that all these problems are temporary and that unity is strength. There is not one, but two of you facing the problem, so both can definitely overcome.
In short, patience to handle things is required in life. Without patience, the whole vehicle of life will be overturned. Even if one of you is short-tempered, the other must handle it with patience, otherwise, the vehicle may not move forward, leading to undesirable outcomes. In simple words, your better half must compensate for what you might not have. So choose your better half wisely.
Secondary qualities, as already mentioned above, are those qualities which are left to the individual’s preference and may not have a huge bearing on the long-lasting relationship. These qualities are like the surface of the water and can be visible just by seeing them, unlike primary qualities, which are similar to deep waters, or in other words, the inner qualities of a person.
Few of the secondary qualities that one may look for in his future better half are
1. EXTROVERT / INTROVERT:
Few people may want their other half to be social, interactive and jovial, while others may want their other half to be a conservative person. It depends on people’s preferences and perceptions as to which type of future partner can make their life happy. It varies from person to person and does not have any bearing on long-lasting relationships.
You have to be self-disciplined to better understand the qualities of a life partner. Here’s what you need to do to be self-disciplined.
Some person might be very ambitious about their career. While others might be just ambitious to make their married life better. Both types of persons can protect and provide long-lasting relationships for their better half. So, working women should never be asked to resign her job before marriage.
Marriage is an institution which should be protected, defended and preserved at all costs. It should not be broken in the form of divorce at any cost unless there is literally no compatibility or there is the trouble of harassment or violence or abuse.
It is imperative to understand that in all other cases, the issues can be fixed and the vehicle of life can be restarted again. Finally, choose someone who values life and all that it has to offer. Choosing such a person who has above-described qualities can and will definitely make your life better and worth living!
