A person once asked the Dalai Lama, “What will happen after you die?” He answered, “I don’t know, but I hope and pray, I am reborn wherever there is most suffering”.
The Dalai Lama’s reply made me look back on 2020. A lot of people in society live with the same pattern of familiarity called certainty, the simple way of living. This way of existence has resulted in that same society becoming unhappier over the last forty years. As a consequence, sad people separate themselves from everyone; they entertain ideas of anger, envy, meaninglessness, fear and sadness. These ideas begin in the mind, the same place where the problem takes form.
Joseph Campbell once said, “Opportunities to find deeper powers within ourselves come when life seems most challenging.”Opportunities to be better to be in the unknown. But, since people like to take care of things, in fact, it is in our character to do so, we fully lose sight of embracing every effect that lies before us.
Think about your 5-year-old for a moment, did he/she want to have every part of their day mapped out and planned down to the minute details? No way!
Almost always though, as grown-ups, we leave ourselves from the heart and the spirit, so that those kid-like characters and inner calls for freedom and expression go unattended. We overlook the signs that show us we may be in the wrong relation or the wrong job, just because we value comfort and certainty over resting truthfully and showing ourselves completely. And then we think about why we are sick, depressed and sad. In the spirit of accepting uncertainty, we see the real truth.
Here’s how you can be patient.
So how do we avoid this fate? The answer is simple, yet difficult.
In order to live the life that is our destiny, we must let go of fear, walk into our personal power and know that we are upheld and guided at all times, in every way. We must know that the silent, internal voice that has been asking for our attention is not that of an insecure child, but that of our spirit, our truth and it need our attention.
Here’s why you should think positive.
Although none of us would know what is around the corner, a plan may seem like the perfect way to negate pain, discomfort and disappointment. The reality is that we will go through those things no matter what: It is a part of being a person. Isn’t it always better then, to have the best of going through life while walking the road of our destiny, rather than negating it?
Here’s how to become successful in life.
I know which one I choose.
Uncertainty is always a situation and when accepted, assists us to get to know our fears. When we get to know how to build a relationship with uncertainty, we grow a relationship with the part of everyone. Within every step, we take the opportunity for growth. It takes us one step closer to the personality we want to become like the character we want to get to is already in us.
Learning to thrive in the unknown doesn’t happen overnight. It is a process where you begin to learn how to avoid judging yourself and others and how to make better decisions and let go of the victim mentality. And so, you begin to reignite the creative person inside and embark on what is known as the Hero’s Journey. The best experiences in life don’t come knocking on your door, you have to go after them.
We live in Uncertainty every day!
Here’s how you can focus on success.
When life gets very tough or all your focus is concentrated on a special project, it’s easy to find yourself unbalanced, letting go of the significant aspects of your life. While you have to drive and focus to get stuff done, taking this too far may lead to irritation and extreme stress.
That’s when it’s time to take an overhead view of your life to bring things back into balance. Take into consideration every area of your life in turn and assess what’s off-balance.
Here’s how you can be courageous.
Rate the following on a 1-10 scale, with 10 being the most favourable: Finances, Health, Relationships, Family, Fun, Career, Spirituality, Living Space and Romance. Think of these prospects as energy wheels that can only move front when you are in control. For something below a 7, think about: What changes do I want to look at in this area?
Here’s how to be a good listener.
The most important reflection I have had this year is the part of impermanence. This perspective aids us in our transformation, healing and liberation. Nothing stays the same in any following moment. Everything moves all the time!
Here’s how you can be focused.
Three ways to cope with change are:
- Meditation – the practice of focused concentration, resting the mind and reaching higher levels of consciousness. Scientifically, it can reduce chronic pain, heart disease and high blood pressure.
- Journaling – having a conversation with yourself on paper. It helps to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. It also helps to improve our immune system as we reduce the cloudiness of our thoughts.

- Mindfulness – taking the meditation “off the cushion” and into everyday life. It is also the energy that helps us to recognize the conditions of happiness that are already present in our life, in the here and now, not in the past and not in the future. Nature is the greater teacher of mindfulness. Walk, breathe and use your senses every day as if it was the first time.
Along with knowing all about uncertainty, Here’s how you can develop humility.
“When you plant a seep, if it does not grow well, you do not blame the seed. You look for reasons it is not doing well. It may need fertilizer, or more water, or less sun. You never blame the seed. Yet if we have problems with our friends or family, we blame the other person. But if we know how to take care of them, they will grow well, like the lettuce. Blaming has no positive effect at all, nor does try to persuade using reason and argument. That is my experience. No blame, no reasoning, no argument, just understanding. If you understand, and you show that you understand, you can love, and the situation will change”.
